This rubbing comes from a "modern" brass designed for the Westminster Abbey Brass Rubbing Center.
Richard the Lion Heart succeeded his father Henry II in 1189. He is remembered as a brave soldier spending most of his reign fighting Saladin in the third Crusade. Following a shipwreck he was imprisoned by the Holy Roman Emperor and his whereabouts were kept a secret.
King Richard measures approximately 15 by 30 inches. He has been made with heelball on black paper produced specifically for brass rubbing and will arrive ready for mounting and framing
