Girdle Belts

Girdles referr to the jeweled, pearled and elaborate strings of beading that noblewomen wore around their waists. Often made with precious metals and stones, enamels, pearls, and biliments, the girdles usually had some sort of ornament at the end, such as a pomander, filigree, or cross. These hand-crafted, professionally made jeweled girdle belts were created based on the jewelry worn by royalty and the landed gentry of the Medieval and Renaissance Eras.
