This French Hood circa 1525-1536 has been made using proper millenary techniques. The padded base is covered with lush velvet. Appropriate weight wire has been added to the top and bottom. This headpiece is blank and ready for your to decorate!
Although I try to make my items as historically accurate as possible. I do believe that there are some things that make our lives easier...most hoods were attached with ties under the chin. I find that to be very uncomfortable so I make my Hoods to tie in the back at the hairline. Secondly, usually Black Velvet was used for the veil! I use black silk elegance because it is lighter weight and not as hot!
